Day of Remembrance of Hieromartyr Jannuarius – why can’t you go to the forest today and what else can you do? Who celebrates Angel Day today and what else happened on May 4?
What happened today?
Today the Orthodox Church honors the memory of Hieromartyr Jannuarius.
He was a bishop in Italy in the 3rd century and was persecuted by Christians. They wanted to throw Jannuarius into the furnace, but the fire did not touch him, so he was considered a sorcerer and put in prison. But when the ruler was blinded and Iannuarius healed him publicly, thousands of people believed in his miraculous gift. However, the ruler remained steadfast even after this and ordered everyone to be killed by the sword.
