The creator of the world’s most admired shoes, Christian Louboutin, has opened a hotel in Portugal.

Boutique hotel located in a resort, it costs $500 to spend a night in one of the 13 rooms.

Christian Louboutin, whose red-soled shoes became the object of desire for fashionistas all over the world, realized his old dream and opened a hotel. The Daily Mail writes about it.

The charming Hotel Vermelho is located in the heart of Melides, a small seaside village in Portugal’s Alentejo region.

The designer filled the hotel with “antiques and pieces that he has collected over the years.”

The name “Vermelho” comes from the iconic red hue that covers the soles of the designer’s shoes.

Christian Louboutin, who founded his eponymous brand in Paris in 1992, says: “I realized that many people dream of designing or owning hotels. I love making my dreams come true. That’s why Vermelho was born.”

In total, the Louboutin hotel has 13 rooms, a night will cost 500 dollars. According to the designer, he first visited Melides ten years ago and was fascinated by the “dreamy atmosphere of the pine forest near the village and the unique beauty of the sunlight in the lagoon”.

He bought and restored a fisherman’s cottage in the village and has since returned every June to create his winter shoe collection.

Louboutin joked that now that he had his own hotel, he could finally empty his safe of antiques and art.

In building Vermelho, he enlisted the help of architect Madalena Caiado, with whom he had collaborated on the design of his house in Lisbon, just over an hour north of Melides.

Greek painter Konstantin Kakanias decorated the walls of the suite on the second floor of the hotel.

The bar in the hotel restaurant is covered in gold leaf and the walls are decorated with famous Portuguese tiles.

The hotel restaurant is run by chef David Abreu, who specializes in traditional Portuguese dishes such as wild boar stew.

Recall that the island that inspired Agatha Christie to write her novels has been put up for sale before.

Accessible only during low tide, the island has a hotel, a helipad and a country house where the famous writer worked.
