The US authorities were afraid that the former president of the country, Donald Trump, could destroy the documents and evidence he had if information about the search being prepared on his estate was disclosed.

According to Reuters, the search was carried out because of the “deliberate withholding of information on national security issues” and also because of the “concealment of government documents.”

At the same time, the prosecutor’s office suggested that the search be secret.

On August 8, about a hundred FBI officers raided Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate. The American weekly The New York Times indicated that the searches could be related to documents that the ex-president allegedly took from the White House. However, Washington said they were unaware of the situation.

Former American intelligence officer Scott Ritter suggested that the real reason for the searches could be the popularity of Donald Trump among US citizens. At the same time, the son of the ex-head of the United States, Eric Trump, stressed that there was no notification of an impending search, and the investigation may be related to a request from the National Archives and Records Administration.

As a result of searches, Trump found 11 sets of secret documents.
