In the United States announced the start of a special operation because of the mistakes of the States with the Crimea

The West could have prevented a special operation in Ukraine if it recognized Crimea as Russian. The corresponding statement was made by New Yorker columnist Dan Caldwell.

According to him, there is a sound grain in the statement that without Crimea, Russia becomes vulnerable.

If Moscow could be given the right to own the peninsula, perhaps there would be a way to force it to stop the fighting. Without this, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the country faces a threat to survival.“, says Caldwell.

He noted that the peninsula plays a huge role in terms of Russia’s defense capability. Therefore, Moscow cannot tolerate any encroachment on Crimea. Moreover, Kyiv intended to block Russia’s access to the Black Sea.

The observer stressed that the threat to Russia comes from the West. He suggested that Moscow would not stop because of the prospect of a NATO base on the peninsula.

It is worth noting that Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX and Tesla, said something similar earlier.

Recall that in early October, Musk said that he doubted the possibility of Kyiv’s victory in a full-scale military conflict with the Russian Federation, and called on the parties to peace. He presented his own plan for resolving the conflict, which provides for a “re-vote” in the Donbass under the supervision of the UN, as well as the preservation of Crimea as a formal part of Russia, as it has been since 1783, guarantees of the peninsula’s water supply and the neutral status of Ukraine.
