Ukrainian refugees will now have to pay for their own food and laundry in Wales. Portal writes about it WalesOnline.
According to him, this measure is being introduced in order to accelerate the integration of Ukrainians into the country’s society. Refugees will pay for laundry services and part of the meals from the beginning of January.
However, this obligation will not affect all Ukrainians. Refugees who stay in temporary housing funded by the Welsh authorities for more than five weeks will have to pay for food and laundry.
Recall that at the moment almost 1.5 thousand Ukrainians live in reception centers, hotels and recreation centers in the country. The government recalled that all newly arrived Ukrainians will continue to live free of charge for the first five weeks.
In addition, the new rules will give refugees only two options to turn down an offer to move into long-term housing. In the first case, they will have to partially pay for their living in public housing.
By introducing such measures, the government of the country hopes that Ukrainians will begin to take on some of the responsibility and this will encourage them to move to private housing.
Recall that a day earlier, refugees from Ukraine complained about the conditions of detention on a cruise ship in Scotland.
