“We will not allow another pogrom”: Serbia plans to send 1000 security forces to Kosovo

The Serbian government reminded that, according to the Brussels agreement, the Albanian police do not have the right to stay in the northern part of Kosovo.

Serbia will consider the possibility of sending up to 1,000 representatives of law enforcement agencies to Kosovo territory. This was stated at an extraordinary press conference by the Director of the Kosovo Office and Metohija Petar Petkovic, writes Kosovo Online.

According to Petar Petkovic, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti is attempting to invade the northern part of the Republic of Kosovo. Petkovic mentioned that on the evening of 8 December, Kosovo police blocked a settlement in the north of the republic.

“As far as we know, 300-350 Kosovo policemen with armored vehicles occupied northern Kosovo, blockaded Kosovska Mitrovica and settled in conditions of mixed violence,” the head of the office said. said.

Petkovic noted that the Kosovo side argues that a police embargo is needed to protect the interests of Albanians living there. He also reminded that Kurti tried to rig the elections in the northern regions of Kosovo a few days ago.

According to the Director of the Kosovo and Metohija Directorate, the police are chasing citizens and stopping them on the street. Emphasizing that the security forces are fully equipped, the official added that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and the country’s government will consider sending up to 1,000 Serbian security forces to Kosovo.

“Vučić has repeated many times that we will not allow our people to suffer another pogrom. I hope those who have to reason with Kurti understand this message, because we will not let our people suffer,” Petkovic concluded.

Recall that the country’s Minister of Defense Milos Vucevic announced that the combat readiness of the Serbian Armed Forces has increased. This statement was made shortly after the introduction of new rules for re-registration of vehicles in Kosovo and Metohija.
