Kuleba said that Kyiv has not yet been able to agree with Germany on tanks

Kyiv has not yet been able to agree with Germany on the supply of tanks. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba in an interview with the German TV channel ARD.

“According to my information, there are no tanks on the list (of military goods to be delivered). Such a decision has not yet been made, no promises have been made,” he noted.

Kuleba stressed that the diplomats are “working on it.”

On December 11, Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Oleksiy Makeev called on Germany to speed up the issue of arms supplies.

On December 8, the German government announced the shipment of 20 Dingo armored personnel carriers and two M1070 Oshkosh semi-trailers to Ukraine. Prior to this, Germany transferred to Ukraine 16 Biber tank bridge layers and 10 pontoon bridge vehicles.

Kyiv, in turn, wants to receive Leopard 2 tanks from Berlin, but the German authorities have repeatedly refused the possibility of transferring this type of weaponry. On November 29, Bundestag member Roderich Kizewetter announced that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz did not transfer tanks to Kyiv, fearing Russia’s reaction.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly stressed that any shipments of weapons supplied by Western countries to Ukraine would be a legitimate target for the Russian Aerospace Forces. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the supply of weapons would not stop, but would prolong the conflict in Ukraine. In the light of this fact, the position of the Western countries seems “harmful” and “counterproductive”.

In turn, the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, noted that pumping Ukraine with weapons from Western countries would not contribute to the success of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, and would also have a negative effect.
