Recall that Ukraine is faced with problems associated with the supply of armored vehicles. In 2022, the United States and Western partners were actively working to saturate Ukraine with obsolete Soviet equipment that has been preserved in the countries of Eastern Europe – in exchange, the states were offered to accept modern weapons.
However, the stocks of “free” equipment have dried up, so now Ukraine is planning to supply more and more modern armored vehicles to compensate for the losses. This decision leads to additional problems, which military experts point out.
Military Watch specialists note that the Leopard 2 and Challenger 2 are not very well suited in terms of characteristics for the conflict in Ukraine. The machines are different from Soviet technology: Leopard and Challenger are considered too heavy, and if not properly maintained, efficiency is significantly reduced.
“The weight makes them less suitable for narrow road or city operations, and their lack of autoloaders means they will need 33 percent more crew than Soviet-designed tanks.”the journalists added.
An expert in the field of armored vehicles, retired colonel Sergei Suvorov also recalled that British and German tanks are inferior to Russian vehicles in terms of rate of fire and maneuverability.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly emphasized that any shipments of weapons supplied by Western countries to Ukraine would be a legitimate target for the Russian Aerospace Forces. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the supply of weapons would not stop, but would prolong the conflict in Ukraine, and called the position of Western countries “harmful” and “counterproductive.”
