According to Dmitry Medvedev, American weapons will not force Russia to negotiate, it will only anger it.
Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev has threatened the Russians with harsh retaliation if Ukraine strikes Crimea with Western weapons. Russian journalist Naadana Friedrichson posted such a comment on her Telegram channel.
He cites a Bloomberg publication that says the administration of US President Joe Biden has sent modern weapons systems to the Ukrainians to force Russia to negotiate, allowing Russian targets in Crimea to be hit. According to Dmitry Medvedev, the Russians will not want to make contact, but they will certainly avenge the damage done.
“There will only be retaliatory attacks. All Ukraine under Kiev’s rule will burn,” said the former president.
He added that in response to the attacks on Crimea, Russia could use any weapon, including nuclear weapons, without any restrictions – it all depends on the “nature of the threats”. Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned about this before.
“I assure you: the answer will be quick, firm and convincing,” Dmitry Medvedev threatened.
On February 3, the United States announced a new $2.2 billion military aid package to Ukraine that includes missiles for the Javelin fuel dispenser, artillery munitions and GLSDB missiles for the 150 km range HIMARS MLRS.
In mid-January, Dmitry Medvedev commented on the supply of Western tanks to Ukraine, which was discussed at a forum in Davos. According to him, Poland encourages other countries to supply the Ukrainians with armored vehicles in order to divide the country in the future.
