A brief conversation between US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov did not lead to any consensus or agreements. This was announced at a briefing by the head of the press service of the State Department, Ned Price.

There are issues that are deeply important to the US and also deeply important to the rest of the world. But there was no agreement or consensus following this brief contact regarding any further discussions.”– said the representative of the department.

He also said that new contacts between the two diplomats are not planned.

At the same time, Price did not deny that the meeting took place on the initiative of Blinken, and not Lavrov, and refused to apologize for the actions of the Secretary of State.

Earlier it was reported that the Secretary of State of the United States, during a conversation with the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry at the G20, called on Moscow to return to the implementation of the START Treaty.

The brief conversation between Lavrov and Blinken was their first personal contact since the beginning of Russia’s special operation to protect Donbass. In July 2022, Lavrov and Blinken held telephone conversations for the first time after a long break.
