Germany may face electricity shortages in 2025. It is reported by Welt am Sonntag with reference to the forecast of specialists from the international consulting company McKinsey.
Thus, it is assumed that the shortage of electricity in Germany will be 4 GW in 2025, and by 2030 it will increase to 30 GW.
“Thus, we are on the path of a significant shortage (of electricity. – Approx. REN TV): 30 GW correspond to the capacities of 30 large thermal power plants”, follows from the McKinsey report.
The report says that power outages in Germany in 2030 will occur in total about 100 times. In this case, the longest phase can last almost 21 hours.
Interestingly, the McKinsey report contradicts the data of the German Federal Network Agency. According to the German regulator, there should not be a shortage of electricity even if Berlin exits coal energy in 2030.
“Soon, Germany will no longer be able to cope with its peak loads on its own. The Federal Grid Agency recently presented this in a completely different way,” – according to a statement from an international consulting company.
In particular, the first reports are already appearing that Germany is facing difficulties in the development of renewable energy sources. It is also mentioned that the plan of the German Vice-Chancellor, Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection Robert Habek, which implies the production of 80 percent of all electricity from renewable sources by 2030, is doomed to failure.
