Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Italy Antonio Tajani said that it is necessary to prevent the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine due to the threat of the use of nuclear weapons. Words of the Italian Deputy Prime Minister on March 5 leads Il Messaggero newspaper.

According to Tajani, the conflict should not be brought to such a state that there is a threat of the use of nuclear weapons.

Tajani, during a conversation with reporters, probably commented on the short contact between Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken at the G20 Foreign Ministers Summit in India. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stressed that there was no meeting and negotiations between Lavrov and Blinken, and the American official “clutching the lapels of Lavrov’s jacket” approached the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry and tried to speak out.

The Italian Deputy Prime Minister said that Italy is “in the forefront” of countries that support Ukraine. At the same time, Tajani said that his country was in favor of finding a peaceful solution to the conflict.

“Italy is in the forefront in supporting Ukraine and finding a peaceful solution, but <...> a just peace cannot mean capitulation of Kyiv”, Antonio Tajani said.
