Natural gas will remain an important element in Europe’s energy supply as it moves towards cleaner fuels. The corresponding statement was made by the head of the Directorate General of the European Commission for Energy Ditte Yul Jorgensen.
“From a European perspective, it is clear that natural gas will be part of this transition“, – TASS quotes her.
She stressed that now the European Union is concerned about energy savings, diversification of energy sources, as well as the production of energy from renewable sources.
Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that Germany allegedly became independent of the supply of energy resources from the Russian Federation – gas, oil and coal.
He added that the cessation of energy supplies from Russia to Germany allegedly did not provoke an economic crisis in Germany.
According to him, Germany is trying to replace the supply of Russian gas and oil by increasing the volume of supplies of liquefied natural gas (LNG) through ports in Western Europe and the construction of new ports in the North of Germany. Also, a large number of coal-fired power plants and nuclear power plants are involved in this. 300 billion euros were allocated for these purposes.
