The number of immigrant border crossings in February remains the lowest monthly level since 2021.

This total includes border patrol encounters and includes non-citizens processed at ports of entry, including individuals who have requested an exception to the Section 42 health order based on certain vulnerabilities and scheduled an appointment in advance via the CBP One mobile app.

The Border Guard reported that in February 72,591 contacts, or 46.8% of the total, were processed for export in accordance with Title 42 and 82,407 contacts were processed for deletion under Section 8 of the Immigration Act.

Detention and expulsion of immigrants at the Mexican border is governed by Section 42 and Section 8.

In February, CBP processed more than 20,000 people at points of entry as an exception to the Section 42 health order based on an individual vulnerability assessment using new features available on the mobile app. CBP One.

In February, 22,755 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans (including next of kin where applicable) were released on parole. to enter the country by CBP Field Operations through parole procedures established for Venezuelans in October and expanded to additional nationalities in January.

The continuous decline in the number of encounters with undocumented immigrants recorded in February by the Border Guard is seen by the agency as “a sign of the effectiveness of the measures announced by the Administration on January 5, 2023, expanding safe legal processes and prescribed for migration and applying serious consequences to those who do not use these processes in their own interests.
