The heads of the Foreign and Defense Ministries of the EU countries have agreed to transfer artillery shells from existing stocks to Ukraine and increase their production to ensure military supplies, European Commissioner for Foreign Policy Josep Borrell said at a press conference.

“I am pleased to announce that the Ministers of Defense and Foreign Affairs agreed to the proposal to urgently provide artillery shells from the arsenals, to conduct purchases and increase industrial capacity”the diplomat said.

Earlier, the European Defense Agency reported that 17 EU countries and Norway signed a project to jointly purchase ammunition for the Ukrainian army and restore their own stocks.

The United States also announced a new package of military assistance to Ukraine. Its volume will be 350 million dollars.

Western countries, led by the United States, continue to pump weapons into Ukraine, supplying ever new types of them: infantry fighting vehicles, armored vehicles, tanks, missile systems, artillery systems, and MLRS.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly stressed that any shipments of weapons supplied by Western countries to Ukraine would be a legitimate target for the Russian Aerospace Forces. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the supply of weapons would not stop, but would prolong the conflict in Ukraine, and called the position of Western countries “harmful” and “counterproductive.”
