The explosion at the Street food bar cafe on Universitetskaya embankment in St. Petersburg occurred on the evening of April 2. As a result of the explosion, the military commander Vladlen Tatarsky (real name Maxim Fomin), whose creative evening was taking place at that moment in the institution, died. Dozens of people gathered in the cafe. Due to a powerful explosion in the building, windows and doors were knocked out. According to the source REN TVthe power of the explosive device was approximately 200 grams of TNT.
St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov said that 25 people, including at least one child, were injured in the explosion. The circumstances of the incident are established. The prosecutor’s office began an investigation after the incident, a criminal case was opened.
Source REN TV said that law enforcement agencies are checking for involvement in the explosion a girl who, in advance, handed Tatarsky a figurine in which an IED was planted.
