“Going into the details”: Rogozin doubts NASA astronauts are on the moon

According to the former head of Roscosmos, the technology of the 60s in America would not have allowed the Apollo spacecraft to send their missions. He had probably forgotten about the reflectors on the moon and the many laser beams sent to them.

Dmitry Rogozin, the former head of Roskosmos, adviser of the technical department of the Russian army, suspects that American astronauts landed on the moon. Posted this on Telegram.

Rogozin talks about the missions of the American manned spacecraft of the Apollo series. Apollo 11 crew commander Neil Armstrong and pilot Edwin Buzz Aldrin landed the ship’s lunar module in the southwest region of the Sea of Tranquility on July 20, 1969.

Astronauts have been on the surface of the moon for more than 21 hours.

The former head of the agency noted that nearly 10 years ago, while working for the Russian government, he sent a request to Roscosmos to release documentary evidence of Americans staying on the moon.

“I was deeply embarrassed that Soviet cosmonauts returning from multiple-day expeditions could barely stand on their feet and had to go through a long recovery period after such flights, and the Americans crawling out of their moon ships like cucumbers from the garden,” Rogozin continued. .

According to him, the government sent him in response the book “Conquest of the Moon by Astronauts” with commentary by Soviet cosmonaut Alexei Leonov, who is considered the first person in space on earth.

Leonov wrote that, as Rogozin noted, the Americans were indeed on the moon because “they told him about it themselves.”

Rogozin forgot about Apollo 11 reflectors on the moon

Rogozin, who moved to Roscosmos in 2018, continued to search for evidence but found nothing. He has also been accused by Russian academics of undermining cooperation with NASA.

“I didn’t undermine or exaggerate anything, I tried to dig deep into the details and at least determine for myself the real situation when it comes to our competitors’ exploration of the Moon. It wasn’t clear to me. How in past centuries the US at the level of technological advancement in the 60s did what it could not do now,” he said. completed.

The American edition of The Register pointed to Rogozin’s interpretation, emphasizing that it was unclear how Roscosmos’ head could not have known about the reflectors Apollo dropped on the Moon and the many successful attempts to direct a ground-based laser beam to the instruments. on the moon.

It is known that astronauts on the Apollo 11, 14 and 15 missions installed corner reflectors at landing sites on the Moon.

This is a mirror system to reflect a laser beam sent from Earth back to the sender. This technology is used by scientists in many countries to determine the distance to the moon.

Recall that in February of this year, it became known about a possible space launch of the main space mission of India aboard the Gaganyan spacecraft. If the initiative is successful, India will become the fourth country to launch a manned spacecraft into near-Earth space.

NASA announced in January that it plans to build an oxygen delivery station on the Moon for the astronauts of the Artemis mission. They want to connect the pipeline to the lunar ice mining center at the south pole.
