The Chinese side regards the statements of American leader Joe Biden about Chinese President Xi Jinping as a political provocation. This is reported CNN referring to a representative of the Chinese Embassy in the United States.
“Biden has been clear in the past that the United States respects the Chinese system and does not seek to change it. <...>but recent irresponsible statements about the Chinese political system and top leader cannot but raise questions about the sincerity of the American side.”– the statement of the representative of the Chinese diplomatic mission is given.
The diplomat from China called on the American side to abandon the words of Joe Biden. Otherwise, Washington will face consequences, the responsibility for which will lie with the leadership of the United States.
On June 20, Joe Biden said that Chinese President Xi Jinping did not have all the data about the incident with a balloon in the sky over the United States and because of this he was “very upset” because this is allegedly “a big embarrassment for dictators.”
Biden’s remarks came less than a day after US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s visit to China, which the United States had high hopes for improving relations between Washington and Beijing, ended.
The official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning, in turn, stressed that the statements of the American president are extremely irresponsible and significantly violate diplomatic etiquette. Mao Ning called such words of Washington representatives an open political provocation.
