The United States will continue to use diplomatic methods to restore direct channels of communication between the US and Chinese defense departments. Kurt Campbell, Coordinator for Indian and Pacific Regional Affairs at the White House National Security Council, announced this on June 26.

He expressed confidence that the US and China should take steps to ensure effective communication between countries in the event of an emergency, accident or other incident.

“In our view, the diplomatic activity that you saw last week between (Secretary of State Anthony – ed.) Blinken and the Chinese leadership is a good step, and we will continue to take such steps to establish dialogue and discussions with China,” Campbell stated.

At the end of May, China denied the United States a meeting of defense ministers in Singapore on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue security conference.
