Sex offender arrested for threatening to ‘shoot and blow up’ Muslims in Sacramento park

According to the California Online Sex Offender Registry, Avery had previously molested or abused a child under the age of 18. It is unclear whether he served a prison sentence for this crime.

On Monday morning, authorities arrested Avery, a resident of Orangevale, a census-designated location about 10 miles northeast of Rancho Cordova, according to the sheriff’s office.

Amar Gandhi of the Sheriff’s Office told KCRA that Avery surrendered “with the help of his family” about 12 hours after the incident.after the police publicly identified him as a suspect in the case.

Avery was incarcerated at the Sacramento County Main Jail shortly after noon Monday and is being held on $125,000 bail, online prison records show.

The suspect faces one count of petty hate crime and two felony charges.: Assault with a deadly weapon and a criminal threat, according to prison records.

The man is due to appear in court on Wednesday afternoon.
