German MP: refusal of Russian gas is a geopolitical tragedy

The refusal of the German authorities from Russian gas is a geopolitical tragedy. So says a member of the Bundestag committee on energy and climate protection from the party “Alternative for Germany” Steffen Kotre.

“This is a tragedy from a geopolitical point of view as well. Russia and Germany cooperated very well on energy issues for more than 50 years, even during the Cold War,” he said in an interview “Izvestia”.

According to Cotret, the refusal of Russian gas entails an increase in prices for blue fuel, from which both the population and industry suffer. At the same time, Germany is now experiencing disindustrialization. More and more investors prefer to invest in the economies of other countries.

Only due to the decline in industry and the rise in prices last year, Germany managed to save gas, the deputy added.
