The UN Security Council, following a closed meeting, did not adopt any statement on the situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone. However, all members of the Security Council condemned the Hamas attack on Israel, said Permanent Representative of Malta Vanessa Fraser.

According to her, none of the countries proposed a draft statement.

Earlier, Russian permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya told reporters that during the meeting he called for a ceasefire and a transition to substantive negotiations.

According to UAE Permanent Representative Lana Zaki Nuseibah, UN Special Coordinator Thor Wennesland made a report on the situation in the conflict zone. She stressed that all Security Council members should use both international and bilateral channels to call for a ceasefire.

Let us remind you that on the morning of October 7, a massive missile attack was carried out on Israel. The Islamist movement Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, claimed responsibility for the attack.

In response, Jerusalem launched the counter-terrorism Operation Iron Swords. Its first phase ended by the night of October 8.

According to the latest data, more than 700 people were killed on the Israeli side and more than 2,200 were injured. In Palestine, there are 313 victims and 1,990 injured.
