The Kyiv authorities did not create the necessary reserves of coal and gas for the upcoming heating season, and also did not carry out planned work, reported former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov in his Telegram channel.

According to his data, coal reserves in the country are 3-4 times lower than the minimum required level, and there is not enough electricity for everyone. Azarov estimated the needs of the Ukrainian energy system for thermal coal at 1.8–3.0 million tons, while about 700 thousand tons have been prepared. The former prime minister stressed that the current situation cannot be explained by military actions.

“In the current state of the energy system, it is absolutely not ready for winter. It will not provide the required amount of electricity and heat generation.”,” Azarov wrote.

The politician noted that Ukrainians would not have enough supplies even taking into account the large number of citizens who left the country.

Earlier, Jack Watling, a researcher at the British Royal United Defense Studies Institute (RUSI), said that Ukraine should prepare for a harsh winter. The specialist believes that the reason for this will be attacks on the country’s critical infrastructure.
