According to Biden, a pause in hostilities will lead to progress in the release of a number of hostages currently held by Hamas militants in Gaza.

It is noted that the United States, Israel and Qatar are discussing a proposal under which Hamas will release 10-15 prisoners, and a pause will be required to verify their identities and transmit a list of the names of those held by Palestinian militants.

However, Netanyahu has already told Biden that he does not trust Hamas. The Israeli prime minister is also convinced that a pause will lead to the Jewish state losing international support in the Gaza Strip.
