79-year-old Louise Yu fulfilled her lifelong dream by visiting all 193 UN member countries. The woman was passionate about traveling since her childhood in the Philippines and constantly wanted to learn something new. ABC News writes about it.
“When I went to the movies, I saw incredible landscapes, nature, rivers, mountains, and it fascinated me. I always dreamed of traveling and lived in the hope that one day I would see all these places with my own eyes,” he recalls. Miss Yu.
The woman came to the United States at the age of 23 by participating in an exchange program.
“At first, I couldn’t leave the country because of my condition. So I took a bus and went to tour the states. I woke up in a new city every morning,” he says.
Louise first worked in medical technology, then moved into the tourism industry to have more time to travel. Over the past half century, the woman has visited wherever she could, from Europe to Asia and Africa as well as the countries of the Middle East. He eventually managed to visit all 193 UN member countries.
Yu explains his motivation: “Although some places are considered dangerous, I wanted to go there to learn more about the history and culture.”
After visiting many countries and meeting many interesting people, Yu “realized one simple thing”: people from different parts of the world are actually much more similar to each other than we could ever imagine.
“Everyone dreams of better jobs and opportunities, and most of them are very kind. I learned a lot and realized a lot. Don’t be afraid, go out, travel! Don’t wait for anyone because this opportunity may not come again. Just be yourself. Nothing is impossible” , summarizes the traveler.
