Great Britain supplied Ukraine with Challenger 2 tanks without additional armor sets. The corresponding statement was made by Forbes military columnist David Ax.
“Mounted armor kits were not transferred to Ukraine, probably because they would have added several tons to the total weight, which would have made the Ukrainian Challenger 2 even less maneuverable“, Ex suggested.
He noted that British tanks generally have poor maneuverability on soft soils.
As a result, Challenger 2s often get stuck in the mud and have to be towed.
Earlier it was reported that a British Challenger 2 tank of British production got stuck in the mud during demonstration maneuvers of Ukrainian militants.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine invited journalists to watch the tank crews train at the training ground, but during the process the 64-ton low-mobility vehicle got stuck tightly. Another Challenger 2 had to be brought in for evacuation.
