Dozens of residents protested and blocked the federal highway Jalapa-Perote, at the height of the municipality of Rafael Lucio, demanding justice for the murder of the former mayor. Jose Allan Booksellers Alva.

The former president of the municipality, Rafael Lucio, was gunned down on the night of Tuesday, August 9, on Calle Del Desierto, as he was driving in his private car towards his house. Later he was transferred to Center of High Specialization (CAE) “Dr. Rafael Lucio”, who is located in the capital Veracruzwhere he later died from the severity of his injuries.
His family and friends demonstrated in the center of Xalapa on August 15, where they threatened to block roads, demanding clarification on the case, and, having received no positive response from State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), blocked the road at almost noon this Monday.
According to Silvio Libreros, the uncle of the victim, people are ready to do anything to ensure that the crime does not go unpunished, since there is still no progress in the investigation.
“We want justice so that this does not go unpunished. People here, we want justice, whoever falls. Today we want justice,” he said.
It should be recalled that Leonel Libreros Mendoza, José Allán’s father, stated that the person allegedly responsible for the murder was Rafael Lucio Mayor Damiana Hernández, who allegedly threatened his son.
However, on this occasion, he preferred not to give interviews to media representatives, citing the fact that he would conduct a dialogue only with government agencies.
The people threatened to shut down an important communication route until the state government complied with their demands.
