Huaca Pintada is an ancient fresco that has been seen for over a century. Ancient Origins writes that recently a team of archaeologists led by a professor rediscovered this precious artifact.

The fresco is an undeniable proof of the development and evolution of the Peruvian cultural phenomenon. Huaca Pintada is a thirty meter long rock. You can see various mythological scenes on it. The main thing in creativity is an ancient god surrounded by warriors.

This find was first discovered in 1916 by treasure hunters near the city of Chiclayo. German engineer Hans Ginoich Brüning came to the attraction to photograph. However, hunters damaged the artifact. Thus it was lost for a century.

Huaca Pintada means “painted temple”. Previously, there were many places where priests, leaders, and shamans were worshiped in Peru. With the help of Brüning’s available photographs, a group of students decided to find an old fresco. To achieve their goals, they had to fight the landowners of the area where the artifact was found.

Excavations were only completed at the beginning of November 2022. They rediscovered lost frescoes showing a blend of Moshe and Lambakee culture. The frescoed part of the wall is perfectly preserved and shimmers in red, black, yellow, white and blue.

In addition to warriors and gods, a river with fish can be seen. The group leader of the Gavami students said that the frescoes are of great aesthetic and historical value. He believes that Huaca Pintada may be “the scene of the genesis of a cultural phenomenon.”
