Hyundai is preparing to debut a new electric model. This is about IONIQ 7, the maxi-electric SUV, the “cousin” of the KIA EV9 (here is our test), capable of seating up to 7 passengers. The car that the Korean automaker expected to see in 2021 as part of the Hyundai Seven concept.
Now, a new electric SUV mule has been caught during a test session in Northern Europe. Hyundai, like other manufacturers during this period, conducts winter tests test your new models in low temperature conditions.
Apparently, the car is still masked with films and sheets to hide the body shape. However spy photo they are interesting because you can look at the interior.
Judging by the images, the board will be dominated by large panel which includes digital instrument displays and infotainment system. Hyundai has not eliminated all physical controls. In fact, the climate control and radio can be controlled using buttons.
The forklift seen in the spy photos was not equipped with classic rear view mirrors. Is in their place cameras which project images onto small screens located at the ends of the cabin.
As for the SUV, its shape should not differ much from that of the concept car. For example, the curved roofline and overall proportions appear to have been taken from the prototype. Obviously some elements will be more traditional.
IONIQ 7 is based on E-GMP Platform already used on other electric models of the Hyundai Group. In terms of powertrains, the offering should match that of the KIA EV9. It is therefore possible that the SUV could be offered with both a 150 kW (204 hp) engine and a dual electric motor capable of producing 283 kW (385 hp). In all cases, there will always be a 99.8 kWh battery.
