The European Union, based on accusations of circumventing sanctions, decided to confiscate the assets of Russian oligarchs. This was stated by European Commissioner for Justice and Rule of Law Didier Reynders.

Arriving at a meeting of the EU Council at the level of interior ministers, he said that the main topic of the meeting would again be Ukraine. Reynders said he was going to provide ministers with information “on progress on the issue of sanctions.”

“I will update the ministers on the progress on the issue of sanctions, where we have a new development that will make it possible to criminalize the circumvention of sanctions and, on this basis, receive court sentences and confiscate the assets of individuals and companies,” TASS reports a message from Reynders.

The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, has previously stated that encroachment on Russian property abroad is absolutely contrary to all kinds of legislation, and above all, international law.

By trying to appropriate Russian property, Europe itself got into trouble, because it is difficult for them to formalize it. And the West will not succeed in arranging such a robbery “beautifully”, Peskov stressed, the “ears of robbery” will still stick out.
