Survey three days before the presidential elections: Erdogan risks losing in the first round

In many polls, Kılıçdaroğlu, the candidate of the main opposition alliance, ranks ahead of the country’s incumbent leader, posing the biggest challenge of his 20-year rule.

Incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is in decline as he lags behind his main rival, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, by more than 5 percent on the eve of the presidential election, according to a poll conducted in Turkey. On 11 May this was reported by Reuters.

According to a poll conducted by Konda on Thursday, May 11, 43.7 percent of respondents in Turkey support Erdogan, while 49.3 percent of respondents support Kılıçdaroğlu’s candidacy.

According to preliminary figures, this may indicate the second round of the presidential elections in Turkey to be held on 28 May.

The publication points out that the data obtained in the latest survey coincide with the results of other sociological studies, in which the main opposition alliance candidate Kılıçdaroğlu is ahead of Erdoğan.

Therefore, according to journalists, Erdogan faced a serious challenge during his two decades in power in the country.

The publication cites the results of other surveys as examples. In one of these, held on May 6-7, Sinan Oğan, another Turkish presidential candidate, received the support of 4.8% of the voters, while according to Konda analysts, he received the support of 2.2% of Muharrem İnce. Kılıçdaroğlu, the leader of the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), will be eliminated in the second round.

It is known that 3,480 people from 35 provincial centers participated in Konda’s survey.

Recall that 69-year-old Recep Tayyip Erdogan was disturbed in his pre-election interview with Ülke TV and Kanal 7 on April 25, on the eve of the May 14 Parliamentary and Presidential elections.

The next day, it was learned that Erdogan canceled many city tours as part of the election campaign due to the illnesses he related to stomach flu.
