Prime Minister of Italy canceled her visit to Kazakhstan due to floods in her homeland

Italian Prime Minister Giorgi Melanie had to cancel his visit to Kazakhstan due to flooding in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna. In addition, the politician had to leave the G7 summit ahead of schedule.

“The previously announced working visit of the head of the Italian government to Astana will not take place. The Italian side asked for a telephone conversation between the president and George Meloni“, – the press service of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev reports.

Heavy rains began in Emilia-Romagna on Tuesday. In three days, six months of rain fell there, which led to severe flooding. 23 rivers overflowed their banks, 43 settlements were flooded.

In the emergency situation, 14 people died, there are those who are considered missing. 36 thousand people lost their homes, many people had to be evacuated.
