The British army veteran, who lost both his legs in Afghanistan, climbed to the summit of Mount Everest, which is 8,849 meters high. The Army announced this on its Facebook page on May 20.
Hari Buddha Magar, 43, became the first person to have a double above-knee amputation to climb the highest mountain.
As she herself said, she accepted the challenge not only for herself, but also for other people with special needs.
“My climbing Everest is not just for me, but for people with disabilities, Gurkhas and their families, Nepalese and Nepalese, UK and Commonwealth, Armed Forces and veterans of your country, victims of war and survivors of peace,” he wrote.
Hari Buddha was equipped with special prosthetics with heaters, but he actually stood up with the help of his hands.
He assumed it would take three times longer to reach the summit than healthy climbers. In the end it took 11 days and it turned out to be more difficult than he had anticipated.
The Buddha says that when it becomes unbearable, he is inspired by the thoughts of the family.
