Kilauea Volcano, one of the youngest and most active in Hawaii (USA), erupted this Wednesday, lava erupted from its crater.
The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said in a statement that around 4:00 a.m. local time Wednesday, it detected “brightness in Kilauea peak webcam images, indicating the start of an eruption in the Halemaumau crater.”
He added that early eruption phases are “dynamic” and that webcam images show cracks at the base of the crater that generate lava flows on the surface.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed on its social media that Kilauea erupted in the Halemaumau crater, far from populated areas. The agency also published video in which you can see the moment when the eruption began.
The largest lava fountain has a height of 15 meters, and during the earliest phase of the eruption, lava explosions reached 60 meters in heighthe stressed.
The USGS has indicated that the eruption is taking place in an enclosed area of the Hawaiian Volcanoes National Park and that Of greatest concern are emissions of gases that can be blown away by the wind.
Kilauea, which erupted between 1983 and 2018.the most devastating phase was last year, when about 700 houses were destroyed in 4 months and forced thousands of people to leave their homes.
