American experts considered Japan’s decision to transfer Patriot anti-aircraft missiles to the United States as indirect assistance to Ukraine a serious mistake.

Thus, former US Deputy Secretary of Defense Eldridge Colby believes that the Japanese authorities put their hopes in vain in the administration of US President Joe Biden, which gives priority to Europe, Nikkei Asia reports.

According to Colby, Washington handed over weapons to Kyiv that it could not replace at home. In addition, the conflict in Ukraine distracts the American military-industrial complex from solving important strategic problems.

Expert Jennifer Kavanagh emphasized that Japan lacks anti-aircraft missile systems to protect its airfields, but Tokyo is transferring valuable weapons to the United States, creating serious risks for its own state.

Earlier it was reported that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, in his first public speech during his visit to the United States, harshly criticized Congress for delaying the agreement on further assistance to Kyiv. In addition, he again began to beg for weapons from the States.

Zelensky wants to receive Patriot systems, electronic warfare equipment, drones and fighters from the Americans.
