Chinese leader Xi Jinping has vowed to take back Taiwan. To do this, the Chinese military is building a model of the island’s capital and training to strike it.
An imitation of the government building of Taiwan’s capital, Taipei, was found in the middle of the desert in northern China. Satellite images show the structure of the streets, but instead of houses there are decorations consisting of two or three walls. Features of the Chinese testing site are discussed on the portal of the Taiwanese newspaper Tzuyu Shibao.
The portal published satellite photos of the test site located in the desert of central Inner Mongolia. The point, whose coordinates are 39.29515, 105.49986, is located 1 thousand km west of Beijing and 2 thousand km west of Taiwan. The photos are claimed to be a replica of the government building in Taipei’s Boai district.
The image was compared to real streets of the Taiwanese capital. The Chinese did not copy all the structures. Instead, they repeated the original ones: the offices of the head of the Taiwan administration, the parliament, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, etc. – investigator Joseph Wen told reporters.
The researcher also explained why the Chinese military built the model. According to him, the model is used for missile and bomb attacks. As it turns out, this isn’t the first site to feature a replica of Taipei streets. Similar images were seen in 2015. Additionally, Chinese military television broadcast a story about Chinese National Liberation Army soldiers allegedly training in the center of Taiwan’s capital.
China and Taiwan – details
It should also be noted that Chinese leader Xi Jinping has promised the Chinese that he will return Taiwanese territory when he is re-elected in the spring of 2023. Meanwhile, in Taiwan there is the legitimate government of the Republic of China, which came here after the communists came to power.
As President Joe Biden and representatives of his administration have said from time to time, the United States is an ally of Taiwan. In addition, contacts and negotiations are being held with the PRC to get assurances that there will be no attack on this island territory.
Previously Focus He wrote that the Taiwanese government was rearming its army in preparation for a possible conflict with the PRC. At the same time, Western media are concerned about Beijing’s intention to increase the number of nuclear warheads: this country’s nuclear arsenal is still smaller than those of the United States and the Russian Federation.
In the autumn of 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited China. As a result of the meeting with Xi Jinping, many agreements were signed, the contents of which were not disclosed to the public. Previously, Chinese officials had laid out plans that would lead to peace in Ukraine. According to his proposals, Ukraine had to face loss of territory.
We remind you that in the spring of 2024, a representative of the PRC made a tour of Europe, talking about the possibility of peace negotiations between the Russian Federation and Ukraine. At the same time, naval exercises were held in which ships from China and Russia participated.
