Macron says Europe must become more self-reliant

The European Union should strive for greater independence, says French President Emmanuel Macron. He stated this in an interview, a fragment of which is published by CNN.

According to Macron, such independence of the EU will have a beneficial effect on the world order.

“It is very important for me that Europe and the European Union are much more independent. This is useful for the world order,” Macron said.

The French leader explained that he wants independence for the Europeans in terms of technology, defense, energy and other basic provisions of life.

“No one knows what can happen to the rest of the world, and if you are dependent on one country, then you can get into a very difficult situation,” Macron said.

Previously, Macron also emphasized that in building European security, confrontation with Russia should be excluded.
