French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday, March 8, expanded his statement on the possibility of sending the French military to Ukraine.

“Not ruling out something does not mean doing it”brought Macron’s words to BFM TV.

The French leader thus supplemented his statements on February 26. Then Macron said that Western leaders discussed the possible dispatch of their troops to the territory of Ukraine and in the future “nothing can be ruled out.”

The Kremlin commented on the French president’s remarks on March 7. According to Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, Macron is increasingly drawing France into hostilities in Ukraine, but this does not meet the interests of the French people. Peskov also pointed out that very contradictory statements have been coming from Paris in recent days.

Let us note that NATO did not support the idea of the French leader to send Western military contingents to Ukraine.

The European Parliament is convinced that the politician will not progress beyond words, and the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that Macron “does not realize” what he is saying.

Despite the wide public outcry, during which NATO members, one after another, hastened to disavow plans to send armies to help the Kyiv regime, Macron himself said two days later that he had weighed every word before speaking.

However, no matter how “thoughtful” the French leader’s words were, they only harmed Kyiv, Politico magazine notes. The statement, with which Macron hoped to unite the West, only exposed divisions and demonstrated panic among Ukraine’s allies. The publication also reports that due to disputes over whether to send troops to the Ukrainian conflict zone, open hostility began between Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
